This skibike is an example of many that were built in the late eighties and nineties with both a floating front and rear ski, and is typical of many that were built with this design.
On this particular bike, a rounded piece of spring steel rides in a shaped sleeve on each ski, held in with a single bolt and cushioned by rubber blocks.
The frame backbone has been constructed out of 3/4 inch square tubing with a small diameter tensional steel rod as the lower frame member. This design made for a very strong and light frame. Bikes made with this design usually weighed less than 25 pounds.
